Update – Federal Tax Due Date For Individuals
You may have heard that the IRS has postponed the Federal filing and payment deadline to May 17, 2021. This is an extension from the actual Federal deadline of April 15, 2021. Formal guidance is forthcoming from the IRS.
Important items of note:
- This postponement applies only to individual taxpayers.
- First quarter estimated taxes for 2021 remain with the normal due date of April 15, 2021.
- States (including New York) have not yet followed suit. Therefore, your state return may still be due on April 15th.
Our goal is to continue to work toward completion (or extension if needed) of individual returns for our clients by April 15th. In order to appropriately file your state return and estimated payments, we will need your tax information timely! Your balance due payment (if any) can be postponed for Federal purposes to May 15th.
We appreciate the opportunity to do business with you and please reach out to us with any questions on this matter. We hope this message finds you safe and healthy.
